There was good representation of locals in the NSW Spartan Nationals Trifecta last weekend, held at Picton.
The trifecta consisted of threes races – sprint (five kilometres/20 obstacles), super (10 kilometres/25 obstacles) and beast (21 kilometres/30 obstacles).
With Mick Gilhooley out injured and volunteering at the event, it was left to Trent Howell to fly the flag in the trifecta, managing a great fourth in his age group in the beast event, a tough course with lots of water, mud, hills and box thorns.
Dave Pitt, a new addition to the spartan ranks, did well smashing out his first trifecta.
Another debutant, Cain Howell signed up and successful completed the sprint and super.
The team’s coach, world class competitor, Deanna Blegg, returned to competition after a seven-year break, conquering the course and placing first in her age group.
Gavin Allen ran in the super event and completed a cracking race.
The next target for the group is the Queensland Spartan in June on the Gold Coast.
