If you have recently moved into the area or are recently retired or semi-retired and are looking for something new in 2024, why not try Lakes Entrance University of the Third Age (U3A).
Lakes Entrance U3A is part of a world-wide organisation, with more than 30,000 members in Victoria alone who enjoy both making new friends with similar interests and taking on new challenges.
“Have a trip to Paris for the Olympics arranged? Why not join our French for Beginners class to brush up on your French,” president of Lakes Entrance U3A Barbara Decker said.
“Or if you are musically inclined, we have several classes for musical instruments including a beginner’s class for guitar. So, dig out that guitar from the back of the wardrobe and take the lessons you have promised yourself.
“There is a history class for history buffs, garden group for green fingers, mahjong, canasta, photography and lots more.
“Consider yourself a bit of a sleuth? Then we have a Criminology class run by an ex University lecturer and she will have you up and probing in no time.”
Most classes are run from the Masonic Lodge at 10 Rowe Street, Lakes Entrance, with others at the Lake Tyers Beach Angling Club, the Lakes Entrance Senior Citizens Club and Lakes Entrance Bowls Club. Classes begin on Monday, February 5, with enrolment day on Thursday, January 18 from 10am until noon at 10 Rowe Street.
“Further information is available on our website www.lakesu3a.com.au with a timetable and full description of each course on offer. Membership fee of $85 entitles members to join as many groups as they wish. Come and join us,” Barbara said.
