Ann Scott is a proud Collingwood supporter and late last year had the chance to hold the 2023 premiership cup in a promotional event held in Sale.
“I was so excited when I heard that I had been accepted to get photographed with the cup,” Ann said.
Ann attended with her sister Kaye and nephew Richard who had just flown in from Vancouver, where he lives, and is a Collingwood fanatic as well.
Ann is 77 and has been an avid Collingwood supporter her whole life, particularly enjoying the rivalry between Carlton and Collingwood, as well as on ANZAC Day clashes with Essendon.
“There were no players there, but I met Scott Pendlebury’s father Bruce and had a good chat,” Ann said.
Ann first came to the area with her parents and sisters Wendy and Kaye in 1952, the Forsters settled on a dairy farm in Kalimna West, where they lived for many years.
Unfortunately, her father died in a tractor accident on the farm.
“There are 20 members of my family who barrack for Collingwood including both my sisters, one son and my daughter,” Ann said.
She has many memories of matches over the years, and in particular when Brian Taylor kicked his 100th goal in the last seconds of the last match for the season in 1986.
“It was at Waverly Park and it was the first time in 14 years that a Collingwood player had kicked 100,” Ann said.
It is not only Ann who is a diehard fan, she has a photo of her youngest sister’s marriage, both the bride and groom were wearing their Collingwood pyjamas.
Ann spent this year’s grand final at home with friends, and will never forget the joy of getting the opportunity to hold the cup aloft.
