This year’s East Gippsland Shire Council’s Seniors Festival has something to suit all interests, with events running throughout October.
A festival program includes events from across the region with most events being free or run at a minimal cost to keep them accessible.
This year includes come and try sessions, information sessions, exhibitions, classes, reminiscing afternoon teas, a film screening, a book talk, performances and more. Some sessions require booking – check the guide for details.
Among this year’s festival events are:
- Today and Friday, October 12: Eco cruise. 1-4pm Lonsdale Eco Cruises, Lakes Entrance.
- Wednesday, October 10: Book talk – Author, Peter Stokes – Regatta” The Pioneers of Yachting on the Gippsland Lakes – 1860-1894. 1pm at the Bairnsdale Library.
- Thursday, October 11: Bairnsdale U3A Open Day. 9am-3pm, The Hub, Bairnsdale.
- Thursday, October 11: Come and try table tennis. 9am-4pm Bairnsdale and District Table Tennis Association / KeenAges, Lucknow Reserve.
- Saturday, October 13 to Monday, October 29: LGBTI 50s plus art exhibition. Forge Theatre Brabuwoolong Gallery.
- Monday, October 15: Lakes Entrance Garden Club meeting with guest speaker. 1.30pm Mechanics Hall, Lakes Entrance.
- Monday, October 15: Seniors Festival Concert with Nikki Nicholls. 11am-12.30pm Bairnsdale Sporting and Convention Centre.
- Tuesday, October 16: Come and try art lessons with Jan Long. 9am-12pm and 1-4pm Art Education Complex, 23 Morgan Street, Bairnsdale.
- Tuesday, October 23: Household electricity seminar. 1-30pm, The Hub, Bairnsdale. The following library events will be held at a number of libraries on different dates: Tech Savvy Seniors workshops; free film screening; bookmark making, reminiscing afternoon teas supported by Museum Victoria.
