Fresh off the back of the club’s first premiership in 23 years, Boisdale Briagolong has landed a coup, appointing Maffra star Kade Renooy as joint coach for season 2025.
Renooy will coach in tandem with brother, Jake, one of the masterminds behind the 2024 flag when assistant coach to Sam Bedggood.
The Bedggood tenure ended with a bang, securing ultimate success after four years in the job, the backman-turned-forward announcing at the commencement of the finals series that he would be stepping down.
The Bombers are thrilled to appoint the Renooy brothers, continuing the legacy of the Renooy name at Bomberland with father Darren a long servant, coaching the club for many years and part of the 2024 coaching panel.
Kade at just 26 makes the transition to Boisdale at the peak of his powers after 130 exciting games for Maffra in a variety of positions.
The Maffra vice captain has an impressive resume, including dual Gippsland League senior premiership player and 2023 Gippsland League Allstars best-on-ground.
Kade has been the assistant coach to the Maffra thirds this year and while that is his only coaching experience, he brings a wealth of knowledge.
Part of the Gippsland Power system, he also played at Port Melbourne in the VFL and is keen to pass on the coaching knowledge he was afforded at the elite level.
He will work well with Jake who has impressed as a senior assistant coach for the past two seasons and been an integral part of the recruitment team for the club over the past three years.
The Bombers hierarchy is excited to see him step up and take on the head job as it looks to add a second East Gippsland Football Netball League cup to the trophy cabinet.
