Bairnsdale West Primary School’s art show took centre stage on Wednesday, September 4, showcasing the incredible creativity and talent of its students.
The event featured a stunning collection of artwork from all year levels, with students displaying a range of artistic techniques and styles.
Acting principal, Huw Porter, expressed his pride in the students’ hard work, highlighting the dedication they put into their art throughout the year.
“The students’ creativity and effort truly shine through in their work,” Mr Porter said.
“It’s fantastic to see their enthusiasm and growth, and we’re all incredibly proud of what they’ve achieved. “Tonight’s art show celebrates their unique talents, and we’re grateful to the staff and families who support them in so many ways.”
The event also featured a performance by the school choir, which drew a large crowd of families, teachers, and students.
The talented student choir performed Unwritten and Wings, receiving a large round of applause from the audience, who were immensely proud of their efforts.
Natalia Kamenskaia, the driving force behind the school’s visual arts curriculum, spoke about the importance of art as a process, emphasising there’s more to art than the final product.
“There is a lot that happens that we don’t see in the final piece,” Ms Kamenskaia said.
“The process of creating art involves moments of joy, frustration, resolve, determination, and, of course, creativity.
“It’s that journey that really defines the value of art, and tonight’s exhibition is a celebration of each student’s artistic process.”
The art show not only displayed the students’ talents but also reflected the collaborative efforts of the entire caring, learning community.
The evening concluded with the announcement of lucky door prize winners and a final round of applause for the students and their achievements.
