Things just keep getting better for the Boisdale Briagolong Football Netball Club.
Recently breaking a 23-year senior football premiership drought and winning their first East Gippsland Football Netball League flag, the celebrations have begun to wind down but the big announcements point to another huge season in 2025.
Premiership coach Sam Bedggood indicated to the Bombers hierarchy six weeks ago that he would end his four-your tenure at the end of 2024, premiership or not.
Bedggood is of the opinion that four years is about the time to depart and get a new message and ideas around the group. He is also keen to play some more cricket and spend some extra time with his young family.
He will be not lost to Boisdale, vowing to continue on as a player with the club recently appointing joint coaches for 2025, Jake and Kade Renooy.
The Renooy family has a long connection with the club, the Renooy brothers having grown up around the club that their father, Darren, coached for many years and is still actively involved in.
Jake has been an assistant coach for the past two seasons, while Kade comes on board after 130 games and premiership success at Maffra.
At 25 years of age Kade is at the peak of his powers, ready to join a star-studded roster which includes Kel Porter and Tom Jolly who this week have both recommitted for 2025.
Porter has been a superstar football in Gippsland over the past 15 years, tasting premiership success with both Maffra and now Boisdale Briagolong.
He showed on grand final day he is still the clearance king and the best player in the competition, even at 34 years of age.
His brother-in-law, Jolly, has had two faultless seasons at the Bombers, culminating in a best-on-ground performance in the grand final.
A midfielder will the ability to go forward and kick more than 40 goals in a season, Jolly is one of the most valuable players in the competition and hard to stop when he gets on a roll.
Adding to this runner-up league best and fairest and heart and soul player, Matt Wilkinson, has also resigned.
The Bombers are up and about and keen to set up a dynasty.
