Bairnsdale Soccer Club’s winter Futsal competition culminated last week with the playing of three action packed and close grand finals at the Bairnsdale Aquatic and Recreation Centre.
The under 9s warmed the crowd up with a close and entertaining match between the Scorpions and the Tigers, the Scorpions saving their best for last winning 6-4.
Daniel Alwyn was awarded player of the match, while the season’s most valuable player award went to the promising Hugo White, with Oscar McCoughey runner-up. The club award went to Dominic Scionti, who put together a good season.
The Dragons and Jaguars did battle in the under 13 finale, with the Jaguars getting the job done 6-4. Hudson Murray was awarded the player of the match.
The most valuable award player resulted in a three-way tie between Leon Alwyn, Osgar Johanson and Xavier McKinnon, while the club award went to Lachlan McGrath.
The open final was a cracking match with no quarter asked for or given. It was the appropriately named Victory who were winners over Barcajax 3-2, with Sergio Quitadamo a clear standout for best on court.
Quitadamo finished runner-up in the most valuable player award to the consistent Kane Ashwood.
The golden boot went to the talented Oscar Bury, with Quitadamo runner-up, capping off a great season for the premiership player.
Martin Van Elst received the golden gloves for his exceptional efforts in goals throughout the season.
The time honoured and much sought after Norm Severs Award went to Jordan Strini, rewarded for his ongoing service, dedication and commitment to Bairnsdale Soccer Club.
