Bairnsdale Amaroo CWA held their annual general meeting on November 4 in the Bairnsdale Bridge Club Hall.
Some of its members, along with members from Paynesville Toonalook and Orbost branches, attended International Women’s day at the property of Cheree Young in Orbost, a very successful day enjoyed by all.
JoAnn gave her talk Romania, she spoke on Nobel-prize winning authors, to a variety of great writers that are still producing amazing novels and poetry.
Folk music is the oldest form of Romanian musical creation, characterised by great vitality, both religious and lay.
Music and dance represent a lively part of the Romanian folklore, and there are a great variety of musical genres and dances.
Linen was most common material for clothing, combined with wool in the winter.
These clothes of linen and wool would then be embroidered with traditional motifs that vary from region to region.
JoAnn made an outfit of the costume.
Discussions were held on the Bairnsdale Show as the group were in charge of the canteen, also Bairnsdale Amaroo held a table showing the groups we support and giving information on the association and selling goods from H/O.
Some of their ladies had entries and won prizes for their crafts.
The group give awards for craft to a junior and senior, Lola Smith and Kloc Quirke were the winners of these awards.
As December 2 is their last meeting for the year they will be going to lunch at the Eastwood Club after their meeting, the next meeting in the new year will be the first Monday of January.
