The February ride for the club was a successful weekend camp at Mount Taylor. Sue Cullinan led on both the rides Saturday and Sunday.
Eighteen riders attended over the weekend of riding. On day one the group followed single trails and narrow four-wheel-drive tracks. Some short steep hills gave the horses and riders a solid workout before a stop for a lunch break beside Bark Bucket Creek in Long Gully.
After lunch the group followed a meandering motorbike track through open bush. A stop was made at Bedggoods Crossing which had ample fresh clear water for the horses to enjoy before the final hill back to camp.
The horses were washed down, fed and watered after a hard day’s ride.
The weather was balmy and an relaxing night was spent around the campfire enjoying a sausage sizzle.
Day two was an easy three-hour ride of bush tracks with a short climb onto a high ridge with views looking back down the valley. The group rode along the grassy gullies below Bullumwaal Road before heading back to camp.
Leanne Rawlings from Buchan was welcomed back to the club after a long break from riding. It was the first club ride for her pretty Arab mare who settled in after initially being nervy.
Carolyn Drane experienced her first ride with the club after moving down from Queensland. She didn’t miss a beat on her lovely quarterhorse mare “Roxy” and has vowed to be back for more rides.
Tambo Upper Trail Rides are held in various locations on the third Sunday of every month. New members are always welcome. The 2025 calendar is available on the club Facebook page or at local saddlers.
