Following on from the successful production of Come From Away, Bairnsdale Production Line Theatre company has an exciting few months ahead.
The company is currently advertising for a Production Team for its next full length drama, The Heartbreak Choir by the late Aidan Fennessy.
This Australian play, first performed in 2022, is the final work written by the author and is a funny, uplifting and moving celebration of community
and friendship.
It’s a play with songs in it but is not a musical.
Instead it’s a show that shows that if your heart is breaking the best thing to do is to sing.
Production Line is seeking applicants for the positions of director, assistant director, production manager, vocal coach, set designer, costume designer and
stage manager.
Before rehearsals commence for The Heartbreak Choir there will be several opportunities to see Production Line in action with An Afternoon of One Act Plays.
Committee member David Cubley has been hard at work organising these events which will take place between June 29 and mid-July at various East Gippsland venues including The Orbost Exhibition Centre, the Buchan Mechanics Hall and The Wendy L Beckett Studio in Bairnsdale.
There will be at least three plays performed at each venue and David is thrilled with the number of younger members who have put their hands up to be involved. “These plays are a wonderful opportunity for anyone wishing to try their hand at acting or directing,” David said.
“I have been very impressed by the dedication of each and every
person involved.”
Production Line first introduced the one-act play concept in 2023 and they have grown in popularity since then.
BPLTC president Susan Gibson urges as many people as possible to come along to an afternoon – or in some cases, an evening – of sheer entertainment.
Further information about both the Afternoon of One Act Plays and The Heartbreak Choir can be found on the Production Line website and Facebook page.
