The Bairnsdale Bridge Club recently held its annual Lawrence Riviera Teams Tournament, a popular event named in honour of two key founders, Dot and John Lawrence.
For decades, the couple played a huge role in the club’s growth and success, their passion for the game and dedication to mentoring new players made them invaluable community members.
The tournament is unique because it pairs top-ranked players with those who have less experience, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and skill development.
This year’s competition was a great success, featuring both high-level play and a fun, supportive atmosphere.
Team Cornwall will take pride of place on the coveted Lawrence Riviera perpetual Trophy for 2025.
Winning team members Heather and Bill Cornwall, Kaye Munro, and Tony Peck, the event a fitting tribute to Dot and John, whose legacy continues to inspire the club.
Runners up were Team Haylock with John Haylock, Roger Wilson, Henry Gasko & Mal Robertson.
