Last Saturday, Metung Yacht Club (MYC) hosted a club race in Bancroft Bay, with sailors navigating light winds and calm waters. The course was reduced to two windward/leeward legs, each over one nautical mile, with a south-southwest breeze averaging four knots.

Division two saw four boats compete, while division one had three boats on the start line. First across the finish line was Beagle (Simon Bazeley, Bruce Crombie, Ed Smith) in division two, ahead of Tarakona and Leading Edge, the first division one boat to finish.

The race also served as heat one of the three-race JC Bull Trophy series, with Tarakona (Hugh Howard, Julie Clark, Ron Parker) taking the win, followed by New Wave II and Harmony. The same placings applied to the Club Championship heat.

Sailors were additionally contesting the MYC Racing Trophy, a series originally established for Melbourne-based members but now open to all club competitors. Saturday’s results saw Leading Edge victorious ahead of Elusive and Odyssey, securing the overall trophy for the series. Crew members Fred Haes, Will Crooke, Tony Doolan, and Michael Brown guided Leading Edge to victory over Elusive and Etchellente.

The day also included the latest heat of the Etchells Scratch Series, with Leading Edge taking first, followed by Elusive and Odyssey, continuing their strong form across multiple club competitions.
