Spin & Sparkle Laundromat in Bairnsdale has raised $1035 for the Cancer
Council after hosting its first-ever Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea on Thursday, May 21.
The community event was held inside the laundromat and attracted strong local support, with donations, raffle ticket sales, and customers using the facilities throughout the morning contributing to the fundraising total.
Owner Emily Moncrieff said the response from the community was overwhelming.
“We were absolutely blown away by the kindness shown,” she said.
“Seeing so many people come together over a cup of tea to support such an important cause was incredibly special.”
Ms Moncrieff thanked those who attended, donated, purchased raffle tickets, used the laundromat during the event or helped spread the word, saying the collective effort made the fundraiser a success.
A number of local businesses also contributed prizes and support.
Ms Moncrieff said the event not only raised funds for cancer research but also highlighted the strength of community spirit in East Gippsland.
The Biggest Morning Tea initiative raises funds nationally for the Cancer Council, supporting cancer research, prevention programs and support services.
