The final round of the Omeo District Football Netball League will be played this Saturday, with clubs having different goals and agendas.
The match of the round pits 2024 competition powerhouses Omeo Benambra and Lindenow South against each other for the third time this season in a dress rehearsal for the qualifying final on August 17. Time will tell if it is a full dress rehearsal.
The season’s ledger currently stands at one win each, with the Swampies turning the corner last week after some indifferent form.
Word is that Ross Ansaldi, James Gibbs, James Cottrell and Ryan Harwood will all play for the Alpine Ranges, as will Cody Graske, who will test his knee prior to a possible finals appearance.
If the big guns all turn up, it could be a cracking game and a sign of things to come in the ensuing weeks.
Swan Reach will host Bruthen. The Swans, who have improved as the season has transpired, will be hoping to secure another win. Unfortunately they did struggle against Swifts Creek last week, and will probably find a Bruthen side that is excited to be back playing finals superior at this time of the year.
Buchan will battle Swifts Creek, with the Cavemen, who have had a lean second half of the season, given one last opportunity to turn around its dismal recent form.
The reigning premiers have been building in recent weeks and will look forward to welcoming back some players, who will be part of coach Conor Harvey’s plan to defeat Bruthen in the elimination final, while other regular Demons players will be hoping to impress and sure up a spot in the starting line up in week one of the finals.
