The East Gippsland Winter Festival will soon be here, and the Great Alpine Gallery is steaming ahead in preparation for the “Dance of the Water Dragon” event to be held Friday, July 5, during the school holidays.
It begins at the beautiful Poets Walk track in Swifts Creek at 2pm with a family fun day and picnic, followed a procession led by a huge lantern sculpture of the East Gippsland Water Dragon across to the Great Alpine Gallery.
Then everyone is invited to settle into the warmth of that gallery to enjoy a video projection and soundscape, and the exhibition opening.
Tracey Johnson and Sally Doyle have been busy over the last week building the lizard from scratch out of cane and bamboo.
Once the structure has been completed the community are invited to come and help decorate this creature in a workshop on June 19.
